Pulled the two pipes between the water manifold (Coolong System Accumulator) and water pump and noticed some brown gummy residue on the pipe and in the water pump near the Orings. Does anyone dab on something to help seal these? Like some sort of gasket tack or silicone sealant?

Just wondering what the dude before me did. I was gonna just pop in new Orings and lubricate em w/ a little oil...but if the way to go is dab something to help seal it - OK.

What say y'all E34 Gods? What should I do?

Clean deposits with fine grit sandpaper etc. or a gasket scraper, flat head screwdriver...

Then apply a little petroleum jelly to the inside of the hose and o-ring. IT will help them slide into place correctly without unseating or marring the mating surface, and fill any very small scratches.

To apply, put a little on your finger tip and pretend you are wiping it on a rash or something... very very THIN coat, not globs.
