Still getting aquanited with the car.

Got the key fob programmed thru the iDrive to open the doors and also to lock them when driving.

The central locking button does not seem to work.

When inside the car i press it and nothing happens.

Suggestions?

Do you have the ignition on?

I'm going to guess you changed some setting when playing with idrive.

I will double check the iDrive settings and from the previous responses i need to have the door closed and the key in the ignition?

Test results:

No Joy - checked with the doors closed and fob in and engine both off and on - the doors do not open.

Checked the iDrive and i can not see what i could have done wrong - note first BMW car for me.

Is this a dealer trip - hate to bring it in for user error.

Thanks

how many e90 owners (or leasers) have had trouble with their central locking not working. Im talking about the remote key AND the button inside the car.

theres a whole PuMA measure about it and ive only seen 3 this + last year.

anyone?

Just had this happen on our car. The button on the dash doesn't work and neither does the key fob. Going to dealer tomorrow.

My service advisor said one of the door locks shorted out which kept anything related to locking system from working. They're replacing both front door locks.

Fortunately there was 700 miles left on the warrantly.

They're also replacing both side mirror motors because they don't have full range of motion anymore.

BTW, I wouldn't delete the driver side key hole or you may not be able to get into your car if this happens.
