so what are you going to do if you get a flat? Also, doesn't BMW replace the RFTs if they get bald or damaged, assuming you are still under warranty? by the way i am new here and considering to buy a E92 but I have heard so many bad things about the run flats that i don't know what do to.

BMW, to the best of my knowledge, does not replace tires under any condition. I have a ContiComfort kit which is essentially fix a flat with an air pump. If that doesn't solve the problem, Roadside Assistance.
I do wish BMW would offer a donut though!!

No manufacturer ever replaces tires under any kind of warranty unless they are deemed to have a manufacturing defect. I think we are going overboard in our expectations if we think tires should be covered too.

BMW does have a compact spare for the E90. It's a 17" x 3.5" alloy. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=PK53&mospid=51052&btnr=36_1274&hg=36&fg=95

www.leatherz.com (http://www.leatherz.com) offers space-saver spares for current-model BMWs. United BMW (http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=MorePartInfo&PartID=778565&siteid=215011&catalogid=6218)offers a BMW mobility kit.
The former is nice for long trips, while the latter's nice for in-town life. Course, for some models, you'll also need to source a jack, as BMW doesn't give you that anymore either. Again, LeatherZ offers that too.

Yes, the BMW kit, which I pointed out above... It has an instruction booklet in about 10-12 languages, so BMW retails this world-wide...thus, if sold in Germany, will have that rating (can't check mine right now, as it's in the car).

I just had my first experience with run-flats and I've only had the car for a month.
I had a flat yesterday. My flat tire warning came on so after I got out to make sure none were deflated, I drove to a friend's house and checked the pressure. One tire was 20psi. We found a nail, removed it, brought the tire pressure back up, and reset the Flat Tire Caution, then tested for leaks and nothing. A whole day later, still no leak so it is okay.
I've also already had the "Increased Emissions" situation.
I hope this is not a sign of what's to come in the future.

new member but happy to post something helpful(intelligent). I have an E90 w/rfts. I've had a few issues(set tire monitor off), once for loss of pressure(almost got sideswiped on I-10 at speed), turned out to be nothing9aired up 7 reset). Next was a nail, turned out like Amita's.
I like the idea of runflats but not the price, but what you gonna do?
My Contis were put on the car at 35K I think, under warranty of previous owner. I have 50K and still have tread, just want to go w/17s.
I've read/heard all the trash about the rfts but I don't think they ride bad or loud but I don't track my '90(yet?).
The above-mentioned spare system has my attention as my car has a very small palce for a donut under the trunk.
