Can you tell by the VIN if a model is a sport?

I have found an 02 530 at a junkyard. The VIN is WBADT634X2CH89754. Can anyone tell me if this is a sport model or if the interior wood trim is the high polish Vavonna? Thanx.

Sport package is just a package, just like premium or cold weather. Yes you can tell by the vin, but only by begging someone to run the vin in the BMW database. I assume you don't have any pictures?

Post the VIN over on Bimmerfest...in Tyrones HUGENORMOUS thread on the e39 forum ...or post the VIN in the thread on the E30 forum here...both will give you the build info based on the last 7 digits of the VIN.

I am looking for the wooden cover plate that goes over the business CD player. It's part no. 51458159744 in high polish Vavona. My understanding is that the 540 sport got the Nussbaum (nutwood) version, although I have been told to check. If yours is the Vavona, I would be interested! Let me know. To remove, you can pry off the three lock rings that hold onto the three mounting posts on the panel. It should identify the part no. on the back of the panel. Thanx.
