Wanted to paint my stock E46 wheels (currently on my E36) black and leave a polished/brushed/silver lip. I was thinking I could take a scotchbrite pad to the whole thing to clean it up (I have some pretty hardcore brake dust buildup on the lip area), then prime and paint the center area (and mask off the little M logo).

Anyone done this with factory wheels before? Will the scotchbrite polish out the gray finish on them or is that the base metal color?

took my factory e46 wheels to a company called Transwheel, they are nationwide, and had them powdercoated dark grey. Turned out very nice. Not sure paint would hold up.

2DR Vette-
try Rocky Roads refinishing. They're off 290(Austin Hwy) exit Mueschke Rd., almost to Fairfield. Not far from my house. I was going to use them but i decided to go w/17s instead, unless I can't afford rfts for them, then I'll just have Rock finish them in black cause I'm so tight i squeak sitting still!
Price is around $400 and they do it all. I don't know where i put their number but you can google them.
