Week Two - Oh yeah

Grettings - I'm in week two with my 09 E90 328i xDrive and I just can't wipe this grin off my face.

Ordered on November 15, delivered on December 30.
Jet Black/Black/Alum, 6MT, Sport, Cold Weather, Xenon, Logic-7, iPod, Comfort Access (Quite the upgrade from my '95 Honda.)

My 2 hour and 40 minute, 45 mile drive home from the dealer took place during a messy snowfall. I had not driven a MT in over 15 years so I was on mental overload in the 0 to 20 mph stop-and-go traffic. I was so focused on the rpm gauge and recalling how to drive the MT, I never even turned on the radio. Lots of jerky starts but never stalled it during the drive.

Hi, good luck with your new car. How did the X Drive handle for you during that drive through the snow?

It was reassuring to have the xDrive in traffic, though the snow was not very deep in the metropolitan area. Things were really messy on our long driveway with a modest slope. With maybe 3 to 4 inches of fresh powder on top of glare ice, our front wheel drive vehicle spun it's wheels hopelessly even with the most gentile application of the throttle. Even my old Chevy 4x4 ended up spinning one front wheel and one rear wheel since it has open differentials and no traction control. It was stuck, too. Just the BMW and our all-wheel-drive Highlander could make it.
