everything is at an all time low... except maintenance costs.

All time low? I gotta feeling that next year they'll be lower. And then next year they'll be lower. And then next year they'll be lower. I do know this... the Germans make good stuff!

i am going to buy an 2002 M5 with 343,000 miles for $5000. IMO kilometers/miles dont mean a rats ass to me as long as i have service records. My audi had less than 70,000 miles but no service records and that was the biggest mistake of my life. My bimmer had about 10k more miles and it runs flawless, i do have all the record since it was made.

wwwwooooowwww....its called depreciation. welcome to life.

hopefully my house and neighborhood appreciate though, that's what they've been trying to teach me all these years, and then the shitbox economy like this one comes around and slaps em in the face. go m5!

Cheap M5. Must be not taken care of well enough to be 20k+. But yes they are going down, a LITTLE not much.

Uh... every day that passes, the car gets older. The older it is, the cheaper it gets. Give it a year (if the economy stays as is) and it will be under 15k for a pristine m5.

It's SHAMWOW!!! :lol

Yeah, M5's and just about anything else is at an all time low.

Car dealers are hurting BAD.. dealers are doing all kinds of crazy stuff b/c their inventory is not moving at all. I've seen stickers with $14K off on SUVs. A dealer in Buffalo GAVE a F250 buyer a brand new Focus and that was after he discounted the truck like $10K!!!

You can buy a 2005 545i, fully loaded with less than 50K for $18K.. that car sold just 3 years ago for over $50K. Crazy....

It's a total buyers market if you are looking for a car or just about anything else.

good point, maybe I just notice em more often because i'm looking for em. I'm sure if i drove a 95 accord wagon i'd see more of em on the road too...:dunno

I see some 2000 going between 16-20, are they really getting that cheap? But i'm curious how much maintanance those things need.

RAZ- any idea how much you sink into maint each year?

I found a few decent ones in the summer for 18k with records. I was considering one then decided I didn't want a car loan in college.

I found 3 local ones with under 100K miles from 17-20K all private sales, not dealers. Whoever wants the added "prestige" and expense of owning an M should jump on it. ;-)

Smart man Cyrix2k,
Keep your priorites straight! You're in your third year at Maryland this year aren't you? It won't be long and great things will come.

If that is the car "after" they cleaned it up (and why wouldn't it be if they took pics of it for an advertisement), I shudder to think what that car has been through. It looks a little rough/abused to me.
