My '97 528i turned 200k mi last week. I'm the original owner, purchased it in Oct 1996! :cool Here is what i've replaced/repaired in that time:

Driveshaft (it was the joints, but dealer said it came as one piece)
All 4 window regulators, misc. sunroof parts
2 water pumps, radiator, thermostats, hoses, t/c housings, tranny cooler
2 MAFs
1 FSU (final satge unit)
1 air pump
1 oil separator
cat converter, 4 O2 sensors
thrust rods upper control arms, rear ball joints
brakes, rotors

Car runs quite well given its age and mileage. I've always said I'd keep it until the engine or tranny go - but I try keep on top of these - so far so good!

Hope to give the 250k mi update in a few years :).....

I took my M50 engine out at 202k miles and had great luck with it since 175k with boost. I had this shitty oil leak since like 185k miles when I ran about 18 psi on my motor, but I just dealt with it and trashed the driveway :) Other than that, no issues! The more modern cars have a lot of electrical stuff to fail but I still think 200k isn't a big deal!

Pics? :)

Great to see someone really getting the most out of a car...good for you!

I had to say goodbye to my '95 530i (153K) recently due to just too many breakdowns and repeatedly mis-diagnosed/not fixed engine issues and resulting breakdowns that left my wife unwilling to trust it for drives of more than a mile or so. Had hoped to take it up past 200K, but was not in the cards...

I'll try to get a nice pic of her after I clean off all the salt. She doesn't burn oil, no leaks, runs like the dickens on the open road. Granted, it has cost a bit more to keep her on the road (versus my Accord and Supra, both went over 200), but the overall integrity of this car (at this point in its life) is better than any I've owned.

my car has only about 8,000 miles until it reaches the 250,000 mile mark, it seems like it could go on forever

mines at $68,800
Im keeping mine through college and after that...
Im sure I'll keep it unless I need some money

I would love to keep my E39 through 250,000 miles if it isnt too much on the bank
