do you think e39 17" wheel and tire will fit on my e28 m5?
235/45 front
255/40 rear

The wheels will fit and the offest is right, you just need hubcentric rings to step down from the E39's bore of 74.1mm to the E28's bore of 72.5mm. I have them in aluminum, just be aware that these rings are VERY thin, and require extreme care in fitting them to avoid making them scrap. Not much thicker than a soda pop can! $30 to your door vis USPS.

Suggestions where to get the spacers?

I know tirerack sells them there are a few other places that sells them, but forget the sites. As far as i know tirerack no longer sells the aluminum ones only plastic. i have used both and they both work just the same.
