I just picked up a set 16" to use on my M3 until I decide what get. The rear wheels clear my brakes just fine, but in the front I only have about 1/8-1/16" clearance in between the wheel and the caliper. No, they do not rub or hit against each other, but should I be concerned? Is there such a minimal clearance that I need to have? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

That's about what you get running 16's on an M3 up front. As long as you don't smack a pothole and dent the wheel, it'll be ok for daily driving. I'd stay off the track with those, though.

B/c the DSIIs that came with it are chomed, and rusted. Actually three of them, the other one is just silver. I really do not want to refinish them, I rather save up for some better wheels later on.

Hi,
Can you tell me what brand and model 16 inch wheels you have that fit over e36 M3 brakes? I am searching for just such a wheel for this application.
Do you have any pictures? Also, have you encountered any issues since running those 16 inch wheels?
Thanks
