So I don't have time to search up and down for the answer so sorry for a question that has already been answered but my battery died last night and I tried to jump start it today, and it still wouldnt start . It wasn't even trying to turn over. Also, the hazards were blinking almost like an alarm and I dont have one. Anyone that could help would be awesome because i have to bring someone to the airport soon. Thanks

If the battery is really dead, then it might require some time to recharge before you can try starting it. The flashers come on when ever the car loses power and then gets it back. Its one of the modules resetting. Just hit the hazards twice to turn it off.

oh ok, thanks. I just tried it again and left the jumper cables on for like a 15 minutes, but for some reason the code for the radio didn't work. That would explain why it won't start because it immobilizes the car right? Just realized i have 2 cards for the code both with different codes and neither work so a call to BMW should get me the correct code i think

yeah i think you have only 5 tries at the radio code before it locks, at that point you have to turn off the car, then turn the igniton on, but not the car, and let it sit for 30 mins, then your get 5 more tires. and so on

3 tries at the radio code. and i believe it is the OBC that immobilizes the car not the radio

The OBC is the immobilzer, but its only active if you turn it on and input a pin. otherwise its off and you don't have to do anything with it when you reconnect the car.

press the reset button on the OBC (top right corner) thats what i did when i was getting my alternator changed, the mechanic doing it didnt know what to do, i came to pick up the car, pressed the reset button and viola! works good! :)

My flashers come on when I remove the back seat (power intact)

Alrite so do I have to enter the code for the radio to get the car to start or will it start without entering it?

Impact sensor.

radio code should not have anything to do with the car starting or not starting... if it does then I fear you have larger issues.

thats also what i was afraid of, which makes me mad because i had no problems until the battery died

Why did it die in the first place?

haha i was in a rush somewhere in the morning about 10am and for some reason flipped the headlights on and when i got there didnt shut them off and came out at about 9:30-10pm with a battery unable to start the car

I'm not that familiar with the immobilizers in anything other than a 95 (don't know if a 93 had one) so I'm not much help. Is the car not trying to turn over at all even after a decent length charge? Situation sounds very odd.

93 has the immobiliser. Might be the immobiliser relay. It in the driverside kick panel.

I know you said that your alarm was removed but with my car i killed the battery and when i jumped it the alarm was going off with flashing corners. I just charged the battery and then used the key to lock and then unlock the car in order to shut off the alarm. Just a thought in case you just thought the alarm was disabled

factory alarm doesn't flash the hazards.

factory alarm fuel cut is under the back seat ahead of the fusebox

it is only set when you input the obc code.

For a dead bat. A 15min charge wont do it. My altinator went afew months back and i had to charge for about an hour + to get it to turn over enough to start the car.

my factory alarm would flash headlights and hazards (alternating) and blow the horn for the first 5 minutes or so... then just flash the lights for a while after that.

ok the saga continues although i have more details now.

-The battery is definetly holding a charge so that is fine.
-The hazards are flashing when the key is in the ignition.
-The alternator is making one tick everytime the ignition is engaged.

It almost seems that either something with the ignition or the starter, gurus please advise me. :help

And thank you everyone for your help so far

man that's strange... wish I knew what to tell ya. It really sounds like an activated factory alarm issue to me but I am by no means an expert.

I went through an issue years ago where I lost my key. One key was programmed and the other was not. The only way it could be deactivated was with the remote on the key that was programmed correctly. Opening the door with the key would result in the alarm going off. Putting the key in the ignition would result in the alarm going off. Hell just about everything would result in the alarm going off. Long story short, the car sat for two weeks and thankfully I found the key.

I think back when that happened I asked on here and never got an answer. I tried yanking every fuse in the car. Disconnecting the battery for an extended period of time and none of that once... however one time the car did start up and drive... with the alarm on and ZERO accessories working... ie no gauges or anything. Very strange.

same here.

Push the bottom button (there are three buttons) on the key FOB remote to disarm the alarm once it is activated. Pushing the top button will lock and unlock the doors and disarm the alarm when unlocking the doors and pushing the middle button will arm the alarm.

The alarm is NOT on the key for your MY. It is on a KEY FOB that has three buttons. Do a google search bmw alpine alarm picture.
