Merry Christmas, all.

I've already opened (it was never actually wrapped) my only present this year. My dad bought me a watch, and that was probably only because I picked him up a nice GPS unit for a road trip he took so he felt "obligated" to get me something.

I am not getting any presents this year. I hope I get money, I need a 5-speed swap. So far I have $130 towards the swap. This sucks, I've been restricting myself from lots of stuff to save.

the children were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of sugarplums danced in their heads

And Ma in her kerchief, and I in my cap, had just settled our brains fora long winter's nap...

Good night and amidst the craze of wrapping paper and ribbon destruction tomorrow, I hope you find great happiness and contentment in being with family and friends.

Years ago I had to register a car on short notice, so I went to the DMV at the end of the day. They close late on Thursdays, which is when I went. I got number 680 or something like that, and they were on number 540 or something. There were at least 120 people in front of me, I recall that much clearly. I made it in just as they were locking the doors for the day. I got my number and figured I'd go get a bite to eat or the paper or something. The guy guarding the door made it clear that if I left I wasn't getting back in til tomorrow. I had at least an hour and a half with which to do nothing.

I found a newspaper and read it twice, and still had tons of time to kill, so I took the state CDL test. Never read the book or driven anything that large, but the test was like $25 or 40 or something, it was cheap. I passed with like 1 or 2 questions wrong out of like 40 or 50. It was a snap. I had it figured out after like 2 questions, all mutliple choice.

There were questions like...

Your secondary air pressure warning like comes on, do you:
A: keep driving until your primary light comes on
B: Ignore it and keep driving, hoping it will go off
C: Immediately pull to the side of the road as fast as you can
D: In a calm, safe manner, slow down and find a safe place to stop off the road and inspect the vehicle.

Any answer that had the word "safe" or any variant in it was the correct one.

I took the air brakes test and got like 19 out of 20. It was only a few more bucks, and I walked out of there with a CDL B permit. I drove a few box trucks that year, it was a fun job but I never had access to anything big enough or of enough weight to take the test. It expired and I never bothered to renew it. :dunno

But yeah... I get the feeling I'd do ok in your school :redspot
