My name is Forrest, you may know me from other boards or my shop. I have worked on and around cars since I was 14. I started working for Don Istook on his SpeedVision GT/Grand Am Audi S4's when I first got to TCU. I learned alot about chassis setup and got my first real mechanical experience working on racecars.

Vipers were my bag for about 2.5 years working for Bobby Archer. It was painful (perhaps some of you know what happened to his business) but a learning opportunity. Traveling with and racing in the Viper Racing League and Neon Racing League was tons of fun too. I also managed Viperspeed, their in house line of racing parts for Vipers. I learned that you don't have to have a CDL to drive a 48' toterhome and it saves time to do driver changes at 70mph:

I then went to work for Soulspeed in Austin while I was at UT. We did performance suspension work, track alignments, and built an E36 ITS racecar. We also did quite a bit of setup on some cars which some of you may know from SCCA and or Grassroots Motorsports magazine. A great learning opportunity for sure and Collin and Jasper are doing well with it now.

I then went to work for LG Motorsports to crew for their C5R World Challenge car, but that was a disaster. I got out as quickly as I could.

Jim Hall's crew chief called me and invited me to work for Chaparral in Midland, TX as a tech to rebuild and setup the cars. This was the biggest honor that I could have ever received as Jim Hall is one of the fathers of racecar aerodynamics:

There I worked to rebuild the 2D, 2E, 2F, 2J racecars as they had been sitting in a barn out in west Texas.

The 2J will do about 40-45 with just it's 55hp snowmobile engine driving the two fans on the rear. They pick up so much debris on the track that a cloud follows behind it. It's pretty rad to see. When I started it up in our pit it blew over all the barricades and everyone's loose clothing within 15 yards of the car.

The two stroke motor takes lots of ether to get started:

We had the cars transported to Laguna Seca for the Monterey Historics race where I piloted Mr. Rutherford's old hoopty for some parade laps:

Since then Kyle (the other half of ProTuning) and I have opened a track prep and performance shop in Fort Worth called ProTuning Performance where I am currently building my E36 M3 into a track car and we have a 450+ whp Toyota MR2. We would love to have any of you at our shop for any performance work. Hopefully I'll see you guys at the track soon.

I have to vouch for Forrest being a great guy! I really appreciate the help in lending me a hand in fixing my truck & trailer lights in the middle of the night for my drive back from FW to CS. I couldn't have done it on the side of the street as it was way too cold and there was no light.

How's the track car project going? I'm going to start mine soon! I'd have to come by and see what you guys are up to again sometime soon!
