When you have a Thule Cargo Container. :stickoutt

Well since we got a bit of snow, I decided to take the back roads home from work this afternoon. This is one of my favorite spots, which is right by a reservoir bordering Woodbridge and Bethany, CT.

Here are the specs on the car:

'95 Calypsorot 525iT
S50US
B&B Tri-Flo Exhaust
ZF310 5-speed
3.15LSD
ASC+T
15x7" Steelies
205/65/15 Studded Nokian Hakkapeliittas
Thule Rack

This thing is a beast in the snow, especially with the Traction Control working. It does ok in light stuff, but really succeeds in 6" or more.

That's one way to avoid using the bypass.. but then again, you have touring, so you don't even have a ski pass.....:confused

Car's looking good man, I want to drive that road sometime. I know there's a lot of good driving out that way.

That looks awesome, how do you like the Nokian Hakkapeliittas? Ive been looking to get a set of winter tires for my 325ix and am kinda up in the air about what to get. I love your car by the way!

Umm, yeah. That was the joke....

Thanks dude. The title was inspiration from your thread. :)

It is fun, but can get old quick. I can't want for spring.

Hey thanks man, long time no see. Yeah it can get hairy though if you aren't careful. I nearly crashed into the woods while carrying too much speed on a downhill right hand turn. I took these pics on Downs Road (http://maps.google.com/maps) right off of Rt. 69 in Woodbridge.

Thanks Mike! The tips are some trumpet ones that someone who owned the exhaust before me welded on. I ended buying the B&B for $250 used, but there was a huge crack right in the muffler, between the tips. TIG welded it up and it was good as new. I will bring it out this spring for sure.

The S5 is um ok... I went crazy this last week, ordered a ton of new urethane stuff for it. Then found some NLA Koni Orange swaybars. I also ripped out the existing wiring to convert it to Motronic 1.3. I'm pulling the engine/tranny out this winter to refresh the engine bay, do a clutch, and add a JB Racing 8lb. Flywheel I'm picking up. Also have a AC Schniter valve cover going in, and a powdercoated port matched B35 Intake Manifold.

And F*** HID's on that car. It was designed to run halogen bulbs and thats what I'm switching back to. No more blinding people. :embarrasm

BTW, hows your car doing? Not seeing too much snow I hope. ;)

Thanks! I love the Hakka's, but these are Hakka 1's. I would have gone with the 4s or 5s, but I got a great deal on these with the steelies.

My dad has non-studded Hakka 4s on his '89 325i and loves them. I run some no name studded snows on my '91 318i which work fine. Either way, any good snow tire, studded or not will make your iX unstoppable in the snow.

Holy shit, that's EXACTLY what I was thinking of when I saw it, but I figured it was out in western CT. I don't think I would have been out driving there in the snow, but it's a blast in the summer :D

Nice Ben, I guess I didn't know you had an S50 in your Touring.

Here's mine today during our daylong snowstorm on our way out to get some groceries. I'm
running Nokian Hakka RSi's in a 235/45/17.

Gawd, I remember those days when everybody kept a set of studded snows in the garage (PDX, back in the '70s). Can't say as I miss 'em, but I remember 'em... :D

Great road shots, though. Taking a T through its paces.
