Coming home from Thanksgiving I accidentally spilled some Monster on my heated seat switch. It was fine for a few weeks but when it got cold it became very sticky and hard to push down. I popped the switch out to pull it apart. Who would have though that this switch has two circuit boards?

Funny part is that I realized you cannot remove the circuit boards. Instead you gently pop off the actual button and walla all the sweetness of the Monster in all its glory is in there. Now it works line new.

Not a big fan of Redbull. My E/M switch was sticky as well. Took it apart, cleaned it up, put some di-electrical grease on the moving parts, works great. :buttrock

Yeah previous owner had coffee and coke in the selector switch on my Touring. Ended up replacing the switch because several of the foil circuits were burn out.

I spilled sweet tea in the switches a few weeks ago...the left rear switch is super sticky. :( May have to replace them, it wasn't the first time I've done it.
Are they expensive? Haven't priced it out yet...

I prefer Red Bull. :shifty
Monster always gives me a MASSIVE headache.
I clean mine regularly, but I still need a new one because my rear window "lock" switch has a broken tab and won't engage - not great with two little kids in the rear.

Which switch are you talking about? The heated seat switch or the window switches? If its the window switches they are really easy to take apart. Pop the switch out and take it apart. Just be careful because there are two small springs for the rear window lock that make or may not pop out. Clean all the gunk out, take 1000grit sand paper and lightly sand the metal contacts. Then put some di-electrical grease on the contacts and moving parts and its good to go. Did that to mine, no problems yet.

Funny story. I drank it while driving. I got home and was taking stuff out of the car. I went to grab the can, which was empty, but that little last drop in the can that you can never get out spilled when the can slipped out of my hand.:shifty

I like Monster, but let's not be wussies, just do a line of coke off the dash. :shifty
That's cool you were able to fix the problem that fast, good work. I spilled a large quantity of sweet tea in the Camaro and had to take the seat out to vacuum it out. :(
Didja know that Monsters have warnings on them; You're not supposed to drink more than 3 of them in one day :rofl

I'm not surprised, I think the switches contain the timer and cutoff circuits. My driver's seat heater didn't work, replaced the switch and all is toasty again.

How do you "pop the switch out?" This is one of those tricks I just haven't figured out. Every time I try to get ours out I'm afraid I'll dent or chip the vinyl around the switch. Lord knows my window switches have 13 years worth of drinks in them, at least that which wasn't spilled on the carpet under the passenger seat. Ick.

Umm I drink Mate... how do you drink it when you drive, if you are even implying that. Yerba requires you to constantly put more hot water in if you want to use all the grains... btw I recommend to anyone who needs to focus for a long amount of time out of the day (who doesn't). It is so much better than an energy drink since it doesn't just "hype" you, you are just getting the stuff you need to get through the day w/out a crash afterwards. /end thread jack

you have your copilot fill it from the thermos before handing it to you of course. :)
and you carry a ziplock or two to dump the old yerba in when it starts to go 'flojo' after you've had 10 or 12 or so.

I think bmw didn't include cupholders cuz they didn't want you guys drinking stuff in the car spilling it everywhere lol :nono

Dude, I don't know if you've ever heard of it, but Arizona Iced Tea is NOT Sweet Tea. Arizona may brew a Sweet Tea, but traditional Sweet Tea is a southern thing. McDonald's up here has been selling it for a few months. They've been pushing it pretty hard too, but it's disgustingly sweet. I mean really really disgustingly sweet.
Here's a recipe stolen from the internet somewhere:
Recipe #1 Southern Sweet Iced Tea
Ingredients
3 Family size tea bags
2 Cups of cold water
1 Cup of sugar
Directions
We in the south make the best iced tea you'll find. Maybe it's how it's done, or maybe it is the water in the south, or maybe it's just that a southern belle has put a lot of TLC into making the tea. Who knows!
We recommend Luzianne Tea Bags if available.
Place the two cups water in a pot and add the tea bags. Bring to a boil, do not continue boiling. Remove from heat and let steep. Pour warm tea into empty pitcher. Add the sugar and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Fill remaining pitcher with cold water.
Optional - some women say they use less water and add ice to the tea.
Seriously, that's crazy, a cup of sugar in a pitcher of tea?

Once you get used to the McD's sweet tea it is heaven. The first time you taste it, not so much. My switches got sticky once and I just ran them through the parts washer for a few minutes and then let it dry thoroughly.

I make my own sweet tea, my mother gave me a secret way of filtering the tea bags. Anyways I will not release that secret, even after death. I use 1 1/2 cups of sugar per 3 bags on a liter or so pitcher. I don't mean to brag, but you WILL LOVE my tea. Louisiana probably has the biggest tea market, but in Arkansas the tea, Luzianne, is one of the only tea bags bought at our markets. Seriously is the best! McD's tea is alright, but honestly is you don't filter the bags with something extra, you're missing out on a really nice taste. GOOGLE IT

Mmmmm yes it's insanely good, and never gets old. When I was lifeguarding last summer I drank my weight in tea during a shift, and then I had enough energy to power a small city for a day.
But it's a double edged sword, because if you ever spill it....be prepared to be stuck there for a while.
