snow tires on 02 330i

Hey Guys, I got an 02 330i with 235/40/r17's all the way around, looking to get some snow tires but am having some trouble. I found a pair of 215/45/r17's will these fit? I know the original equipment calls for 205/50's so the 215/45 should be inbetween what im running now and the original equipment?

The 215-45 is 1.8% slower than the recommended 205-50.

The rule of thumb for winter tires (if your intent is to maximize the foul-weather cababilities of your car) is to go as narrow as you can. Yes, you will give up dry-pavement handling, but that's low down on the priority list as far as I'm concerned in winter...given the importance of actually staying on the road when the roads aren't bare / dry.
