Hey there. My mom has an R50 mini, prod 4/2006, batch RC33. Seem to be having some problems with the ps...

A few weeks ago, when she came home and killed it, you could still hear the ps pump running. Had to disconnect the batt for a bit and reconn. Was fine after that.

The other day I noticed that it was loudly whining..I went to check it out, if you revved it a bit the noise went away (or maybe I just couldn't hear it due to engine noise).

Will it need to be replaced soon? Pretty spendy part, on pelican it's like 450 and various ebayers sell it for ~400.

:help

That doesn't help much man..I was wondering if it will need to be replaced soon or if it can be fixed at home..and if not, where I can get the best deal on a new one.

Sorry but these are REAL common to fail. I can't count how many I have replaced. And unfortunatly they aren't cheap. I'd replace it soon, keep from getting a dead battery, or even worse there has been engine fires that seem to start right at the P/S pump??? Wow, I had one of my customers hit a curb too. He was suppose to bring the car in for the new pump on Monday and the Sat before he hit a curb, and $1300 later the damage he caused was fixed and had to get the pump on top of that.
