sorry for the repost. What is the best way to go about getting the old bolt out? i am trying not to RandR the diff, but I will if it is needed. Let me know your ideas.

Drill a small centering hole sized to fit an Easy-Out or similar tool. Tap the tool in place from whichever side has best access, and unscrew it. Did this at the track without dropping the diff. No sweat. Good Luck!

I broke mine a while back, and just barely had enough sticking out to grip it with my fingers and back it out.... I had changed the diff several months prior, so the remaining piece was not seized up in the diff. Pulling the diff out is a very minor (to some I guess) job. It would make getting the piece out MUCH easier... Once its out, hit with WD-40 or PB Blaster first, then consider drilling a hole in the center of it and using an easy-out.. It "should" be relatively easy...

Then consider getting a diff brace from Mike Radowski to prevent this from happening again..

Niether of those methods address the WHY it broke. Usually, you have a bad bushing too.
