Yes they are, and boy do the have some grunt. (More turbo noises than a 335 too!)

PS: the easiest way to tell an R56 from an R50/3 is to see where the front turn indicators are, R56 have them in the headlight housing, Mk I's have them on the front bumper.

nice R56. i personally like the R53 better. would love to rather have the turbo, but the styling isn't me. the R56 are larger, and not crazy about moving the headlights off the hood(bonnet). i love opening my hood and having my HLs go with it. the rear is bigger, im just not crazy about them. but yes i am a bit partial.

Somewhere I read min's are ranked like #3 in the most girly car a guy can drive, next to a Prius I think.

But meh, I've ridden in and driven a few of the Cooper S. They are really fun little cars IMO.
Just not a huge fan of the body.

I love Mini's!

I would much rather have the R53 (better proportions IMO), but still wouldn't mind the R56.

There are some seriously mean Cooper S's at the chapter Auto-X's that tear alot of people apart.

Yes, I'm considering a drop for sure. The clearance is pretty bad already though, so it will probably be only an inch or two.

Yep, some kind of lowering, a turbo chip, exhaust, and maybe a larger FMIC. Not sure which yet though.

Yep... only problem I have with the car... interior stuff moves around (noisily) on cold days. Unfortunately, I was too cheap to pony up the $$ for the 335i Coupe (hate the sedan's styling) and when I got the Mini the 1-series was still just in magazines.

Overall, I don't regret it at all though.

we had the same car, 07 R56 Turbo S, it was awesome, so much fun! She totalled it but the car turned out to be very safe. The only complaint is uber stiff ride, because of the SWB - this is unavoidable, but with the proper modes the car moves and is a joy to drive !
