View Full Version : FittiStar on E36
POS VETT

I came across a set of 18x10 FittiStar (I think that's what they are called) out of a C4. There will be some work needed to fit them on my E36 (would 225/40/18 work to achieve a mild/medium stretch ?). But before I do that, I would like to see/hear what you guys think of it. Here is a picture of them. If you have pictures of E36 with them, please do post.
Thanks ! :)

if they are 8x10s in the front it might be REALLLLYY difficult to stuff them under.
But you have the tire size down right for the rears. 225 and a 40 sidewall will be a good stretch for your purpose.
What offset though?

Those are gorgeous wheels.
I voted yay but that's if you can get them to fit.

You can fit 18x10 in the rear depending on offset.
But good luck fitting a 10 in the front.

should look hot with a bit of stretch...or maybe a lot of stretch with a 10 inch wide wheel :D
might need some intense fender work

I guess for E36 it would work out, not a fan of the design itself though.

Rears will fit fine. Fronts will poke too much by the time you get them to clear the strut.
btw wheels are effin sick. if you can get them to fit they will look amazing.

The fronts wont fit. vette offset is pretty high so hed need a shit ton of spacers/adapters up front and by the time he cleared the strut it would be poking way too much. I doubt theyd fit up front without some serious fender work. I could be wrong though but Ive placed my 17x10s up front just to see if it would work but there was no way.

They are sick, but has anyone told you that you may have issues with the fitment of the fronts? Just kidding! Anyway, you really should try it, I would love to see that! Good luck.

Hawt, but I doubt it will fit.
Even with a stretch, I'm sure the offset is gonna kill you.
Look at a 17x9 style 5 and how much work that takes in the rear, and imagine trying to do something similar with the front.
Hope it does work out though since they look great.

You ain't fittin' a 10" wheel up front. Not enough inner clearance, or wayyyy too much poke- whichever way you look at it.
ET32 up front would be the perfect amount of poke, but would still leave you 18mm more wheel on the inside than with my 18x8.5 et33 which cleared the strut by 1mm.
Hope that clears it up for you.

Great idea. Go widebody to run wheels that will require some 50mm spacers.
Oh no wait, nvm. Don't do that.

hahahaha, or just insane fender flares? Doesn't that one guy with the silver e36 run some wide ass CCWs ?
SpasticDwarf
11-28-2008, 01:41 AM
You guys are missing the point that those wheels must have at least a +50mm offset.
To make them even be driveable, You'd have to run a 35mm spacer minimum.

Whoa, don't give up on me yet. I realize the scale of difficulty in fitting them up front. I have 18x9 which has effective ET32 (ET38 with 6mm spacers) which clears the strut by about 2-3 mm. Now, help me if I missed anything, here is my checklist:
1. Offset will be 50-65mm. This is actually a blessing. See next point.
2. Adapters will be needed (not spacers). These will ensure the wheels are hub-centered too.
3. Thickness of adapters will be the key. I'm going to use the 18x9 with effective ET32 as a guide once I can measure the backspacing. Push comes to shove, I'll narrow the front an inch (by taking away backspacing or narrowing the barrel).
The wheels are indeed called Fittipaldi FittiStar. OZ Racing made them.
Here is the car that these wheels would be going onto. 18x9 Enkei Phalenx.

You don't get it.
They aren't gonna fit.
You're going to need a 27mm spacer minimum (assuming they're et50. You'll need a 42mm spacer minimum if they're et65) to make them clear on the inside.
Sure, they'll fit then, but now you have to realize how far they're going to stick out of the front wheel well.
All of the problems come from the front.
The rear won't be a problem.
Your post is confusing. Are they staggered or 10" all around? If they're 9" wide up front, you'll be fine.
10" wide up front is too much wheel. It'l sit 10mm further out than the following pic, which means it's gonna sit too far out.
http://***************.com/Pictures/Mike/WheelsNTires/stretch1.jpg
If it's not clear, you need et22 minimum on a 10" wide wheel to clear the strut according to your numbers. Anything higher will hit the strut.
18x10 et14 will clear on the inside but is gonna stick out 18mm more than the pic above. That's a lot.
Count this post as my advice on these wheels.
Pass on 'em.
10mm more poke is doable, but it's more than you think. I don't think you'll pull the look off. Chances are 10mm more poke is just too much to rock.
And lastly I'm using spacers as a term for dicussing the spacing needed. You could run hubcentric spacers by the way. The bolt pattern is close enough not to need adapters.

I got your point :) It's going to stick out too far. There is a fine line between pokeage and Mexican-style. I got that much.
My second post is not confusing. The FittiStar is 18x10, all 4 of them. I can have two of them narrowed to 18x9 (push comes to shove) for the front. There is actually a company that can do this (WeldCraft Wheels in Plymouth, MI).
I realize about how close the PCDs are. However, with that thick of a spacer, I'd feel safer with an adapter. Besides, an adapter addresses center bore difference (70 mm vs. 72 mm), PCD difference (no matter how small it is) and are actually stronger.
BTW, the seller asks a mere $200 for them. They *may* even fit my Z06 :D

I would say pick those up regardless. If you can't fit em. You can sure flip them for more than 200.

For the price, have them cut and sectioned, easy, and would look great, you can do a 10/9 setup
