throttle body - 540i 6sdp.

does anyone know how to tell if the throttle body on a 540i is going bad?
A guy told me something about punching the throttle while in neutral and quickly letting it idle down. Supposedly something is supposed to happen which indicdates a problem?????????????
Has anyone ever hear of this????

If its really dirty and the butterfly is getting held up? Unlikely...pull the intake elbow and look!

Thanks for the replies. My car is a '99. I have never had a problem with it but I had a guy interested in buying it and he came up with this story.
I just got the car out of the shop and everything checked out great.
I was trying to determine if the potential buyer knew what he was talking about.

They only changed to Drive by Wire in late 1998...all M62s before then had normal throttle cables...
