Hey all, I've had this annoying problem for a little while. I bought a replacement trim piece for my passenger door, and what I thought were the right replacement clips for attaching the molding, however, after buying them, I found these clips were the wrong ones as they would not fit in the door. Is there some kind of special tool used to fit them in, or am I just retarded? Anyway, could someone post a link to a site with the correct ones for my 95' e34 530i up? Thanks.

If you are talking about the rub strip mid door the clip part number is 51-13-1-946-258. You also need the ruber grommet 51-13-1-934-160.

There are no special tools. It simply snaps over the clip.

Alright, I got these clips and everything, and these are the second set of them I've ordered and they still don't fit. I know they're the right kind, I matched them up with my car. Does anyone know if there is a special way to install them or something? I need my passenger trim piece back on lol

Is your trim a new part or used? If it is new, it should snap right on.

Yea my trim part is new, but it only came with the clip for the front-most part of it. I would have just left the old snaps in, but like 3 of them broke when I was pulling off the old trim so I have to put new clips into the door and the grommets don't fit the door either lol

You should be able to fit the grommet in the existing hole easily once the old grommet is removed. Once you have the grommet in the existing hole you should be able to place the clips. Change them all out. The trim snaps right on. Try placing the bottom part of the trim on the underside of the clip and gently lift upwards to snap onto the top. It really should be as simple as that.....

Is the problem that the trim is too large to fit or to small to fit on the clip?

no, the trim is not the problem, the problem is the grommets will not fit in their holes, the trim is the perfect size for the clips though, so i don't know why the clips/grommets won't fit.

Well I will be a monkey's ass! I dug out my replacement clips and grommets. When I replaced my trim I re-used my old clips since they were in decent shape. I just replaced the grommets that were shot. I just tried to put one of the new clips in the new grommet and you are correct, they do not fit together.

try to fit one of your old clips into the grommet and see if it fits.

all my old clips are shot so I don't know what to do haha Even if I were to like widen the hole for my grommets in the car (the grommets don't even fit in the car's original holes) I couldn't fit the new clips in. I wonder if anyone is selling like original clips/grommets lol
