Is $40 a good deal for an e34 Bentley manual? I found one and was wondering if I should move on it or not.

Yup! Cheapest I found was $45 from a member here on the board. Well worth the $40. I did use the "download" version, but really hard to read once pages were printed out and sometimes I like to take notes right in my manuals for shortcuts or special tools that I used to do a particular job and that would be very time consuming to do in PDF format.
I downloaded mine for free, somewhere on here...

I paid more than that for mine (new) and it has paid for itself time and time again. You will be glad to have it!

I got mine new for $54 (e30 bentley) If you're going to work on your car its definitely worth it.

If you can afford it absolutely. I've got the herb speaks of. Full version, but a pain to scroll thought. Also, its quite a bit easier to get oil and 20yo engine muk on your manual than your laptop.

Yep, that's a good price. The cheapest I've found here was about £30 which should be about the same as $45 if you convert directly (source : coinmill.com).
