View Full Version : Bars in North-ish DFW.
Anybody know of some decent ones?
I'm in Haslet, and I haven't really seen any bars in the area. The cities around me are Saginaw, Watuaga, Keller, Haltom City, etc. How many are there in downtown near mainstreet? Maybe I'll check it out down there tonight...
I'd prefer one that has Guinness Draft, but Budwiesers good too, lol.
P.S. - No one say, "The Icehouse"...

The Library tends to be full of assholes that think they're God's gift to humanity.
The Flying Saucer is usually crammed full of douchebags who have latched onto the microbrew trend because they think it makes them somehow more educated and/or better than everyone else.
City Streets is full of 16 year olds with fake ID's.
The Pour House is typically the place to go if you want to hang out with loud, obnoxious drunks.
8.0's isn't bad, but it tends to be a mix of TFS and The Library's clientel.
The Black Dog used to be really good back when they were on Throckmorton. Not sure where they're at now (I've heard they still exist). Used to have a great beer selection for being a hole in the wall, too. Chimay, Warsteiner Dunkel, typical Shiner-esque stuff, etc.

The Ginger Man is a really cool place (personally). Relaxed atmosphere, great beer selection, great soft pretzels and bratwurst, decent prices and friendly staff. They're on Camp Bowie, just West of Montgomery (right next to CVS). Kind of like a less pretentious Flying Saucer, and unlike Flying Saucer you likely won't have to wait an hour and a half to get a seat on the weekends.

It's not that good either. Plus it's cold now and it's mostly an outside bar.

Oh jeebus, the Mule Pub? Plan on burning your clothes after leaving there as they'll never smell the same(smoke).
Snookies it pretty lame.
Shamrock/Poag Mahone's is decent.

Tiff and Andi's bar on Bluebonnet Circle got voted best bar bar by FW Weekly. It's also owned by an attractive lesbian.

Fixed.
That place has been nothing but a total sausage fest every time I've been.
8.0s is good, and they have live bands when it's nice out. Flying Saucer is good for beer and a more chill atmosphere.
Durty Murphy's is the spot to go if you want to go to a smokey "irish pub."
Fox and Hound is alright, but I've always gone more towards the Saucer myself.

I ended up here sometime tonight. It SUCKED, the beer wasn't cold and the glasses were room temperature. After 5 minutes you're drinking a room temperature beer.

The glasses for most of their stuff aren't supposed to be chilled. Personally, I'd much rather have a room temp glass than something that's been in a fridge/freezer and likely will make the beer taste watered down.
If you're a Coors/Miller/Bud/Shiner person, it's not the place for you. You're better off at a Chili's or something.
