Hi I'm Adam. I'm from Nebraska. Anyone from Omaha/Lincoln ever post here?

Just kidding guys.....

What's new? I managed to get my intake on without major problems. Still going to get that exhaust from you Indi.......

Dark Helmet

(insert off topic note here, but definately of interest)

HOLLA!!

I'm still around now and again!!

Hey Adam I gotta get my Bentley from you soon. I've gotta replace the Main seal on my car and that would be helpful!! Hey you ever gonna come to Culvers (formerly at Sonics) car night on Friday night? I haven't seen you forever!!

Mojo325is
07-08-2003, 01:28 AM
No kidding Justin! I've been wanting to get you that back, I'll plan on stopping by this Fri...what time???? I love the custard!!!! Let me know if you need/want help with the seal.....

I'll get back to you on the time, but I'll plan on being there. I'll definately use another set of hands when it comes time for the seal. I'll keep you posted on that. Thanks and good night. Gotta work in the morning!!

No, I never post here anymore.
:D

On a BMW-related note, the engine in the RX-7 *may* have let go over the weekend, which may put me into an old BMW sooner than my original plan.

Mojo325is
07-08-2003, 10:48 AM
gasp!

NOOOOO!!!!

What happened to the phat-tripped-out-rice-burning machine known as the RX-7????????

Did you kill her at Auto-X?

Mr Project
07-08-2003, 12:03 PM
No, it developed an overheating problem just out of nowhere, and it seems pretty nasty. Still a couple of non-lethal possibilities, but with rotaries, generally overheating = useless lump of metal.

Mojo325is
07-08-2003, 12:44 PM
That's tragic... :(

I'll sell you a slightly used piston from an Escort?

Mr Project
07-08-2003, 01:19 PM
No thanks, I have 3. :)

Sometimes it is tempting to be like all the other idiots out there and just go spend $12k on a new Saturn when one of my cars breaks....

Nah, I'm kidding. There are already way too many Saturns in my neighborhood. :D

I am on the lookout for a really nice E28, though.

I'm still here too. Hey, have you guys seen the silver 1998 328is sport around Lincoln? It has a big black "Sport" sticker on the side. Anyway, I was out last night and I met up with him on O street and we raced for shits'n giggles....he kicked my ass...( the drop needs to go on a diet). I talked with the kid some more and it turned out that the kid was from Kosovo. (sp?) He made me follow him into O street car wash (lol) to check out my car real quick. He really liked it and loved the mods. The kid looked about 18 or so but he said that he also had a 1995 325is at home just like mine but not a convertible. Then he let me drive his car since I've always wanted to drive a 328is to see how fast they really are. I couldn't believe he was letting some kid that he just met drive his BMW! I was surprised how much quicker it was than my 325i convertible. He said that he can easily keep up with the 95 M3s. It was a blast until some Chinese guy in a riced out Eclipse pulled up to us and out of no where wanted to start shit with us. The kid from Kosovo was trying to fight him but I told him to let it go cuz the Chinese kid was probably packin...(1 very small chinese guy wants to fight 3 people????.....yeah he was packin) Anyway, I finally got the kid to calm his ass down and we turned around and headed back. It was kinda a weird experience all in all but it was kinda fun. I got to meet another BMW lover like myself, drive a kickass car, and I almost got shot at by some random chinese guy. :D

I think us Lincoln guys should meet up for a evening cruise sometime if this heat ever dies down. This may sound kinda pathetic but.... I actually get kinda jealous when I drive by O street car wash and all the mustang guys are lined up out there. Maybe we could crash the carwash sometime......:D

Steve-
I think I've seen you around town. I'm pretty sure I've seen that 328 too......

Nice to 'meet' you. I'm sure I'll see you around.

Adam

Mr Project

Yeah, I've seen the 328 around town too...IMO the 'sport' sticker is kinda cheezy, but to each his own.

And yeah, for a small midwestern town, Lincoln has its own seamy underbelly. I've been just far enough down that road to know that it's something to be avoided. Good job in defusing the situation.

I think we all need to post pics of our cars cuz I've probably seen you guys around and just didn't know it. I'll start....Here's my most current pic.

Mr Project
07-08-2003, 04:23 PM
Heh, you don't want me to post pics of my cars, trust me. :) I'll just give you the list of my current crappy used-car lot:

'65 Corvair convertible
'66 Corvair 4-door
'76 F-150
'79 RX-7 GS (avatar)
'87 Celica GT
'95 Escort (Escrap, formerly Mojo's car)
'95 Jetta VR6 (wife's car)

Generally you'll see me around town in the RX-7, but maybe not anymore. Right now I'm pimpin' the F-150.

Checking in :)

Just pinched my thumb real bad when doing the suspension work last weekend. My left thumb is more like my toe now.

Jer, how's Bren doing? Speedy recovery for her!

Armen, we DO want to see pics of your collection! ;) We all have seen the great Omni, haven't we? :D

And oh Adam, stop post whoring. You'll never match Jeremy's level. :D

Mr Project
07-08-2003, 05:22 PM
Indi - I want to see pics of the 'new' M3! :) Did the diff. issue get worked out ok?

When you mention suspension work... I assume you are putting full coil-overs with CC plates and sways on the Omni, right? :)

I'll see if I can dig up some pics...

Mr Project
07-08-2003, 05:35 PM
This is my '66 4-door circa 1997. It doesn't look like this anymore. I started a body resto after Dad backed into it with a Suburban... still in progress. :)

Mr Project

Here's the Jetta from the lot when we bought it in AL. It looks quite different now too... mostly in bad ways. Light hit on the driver's side I haven't fixed yet, black grill, and fogs are out now...

Mr Project
07-08-2003, 05:40 PM
And the currently-disabled RX-7... Yes, I washed it outside in 30 degree weather... I just dried it really fast. :)

Whew. Ok, enough post-whoring this thread with non-BMWs for now. :) Steve, as you've probably figured out, I'm just the guy with the garage/tools that likes helping/hanging out with the BMW guys. :)

I think Armen is the post whore here.... ;) too bad OT posts don't count anymore. Here's the pic of Beth that was on Auto Trader when I first fell in love with her......

PS: Indi, I'll never get as many posts as Jer......

BTW, Steve I have seen that kid around too. I wanted to race him but haven't had a chance yet. I'm hoping to get a chance though. I'm definately down for another night of cars and cruising!! We haven't had one of those in a while.

Nope, the diff still whines. Replaced the fluid, but that didn't help. I'm learning to live with it. No pics yet. It's been on jackstands for almost a week now. It's not in its best shape, especially to take pics. ;)

LOL... If I did that, the cost of the suspension would be more than the cost of the car itself. :D

That's a really nice car collection you have there. If I get to Lincoln, I'd like to take a look at it. Ohhh and can I borrow some tools?? :D Breaking loose suspension bolts without an air tools was really a bitch!

Mr Project
07-09-2003, 08:16 AM
Mojo - I admit it, I'm a closet post-ho. :D

Indi - I'd be more than happy to trade a little air-tool useage for a ride/drive in the M3. :) And if you come look at the 'collection' you have to take one home. It's a liquidation sale!! Buy 1 junker, get one free!!

Mojo325is

How about a ride in the M for an exchange for the Rotary power? :D

What the hell did you do to it? Beat it up to death?

Mr Project
07-09-2003, 05:08 PM
Well, I got over 30k miles of pure abuse out of a $250 totally unknown engine from the junk pile of a shop in Omaha, so I shoudn't complain... but I really wasn't even driving it hard that week. I still don't know, it could be a bad guage or a goofy air bubble in the cooling system, but worst-case scenario, it probably is worth about 1 ride in the M. :)

94E36-325is
07-09-2003, 06:46 PM
Armen - I'm going to call your sale "ARMANIA!!!!" You should just sell swings of a sludge hammer. You might make your money back on some of the cars!! :D :D

Indi - did I miss that you got another M3???? What are the details?

Dark Helmet
07-10-2003, 02:10 PM
hello all... sorry I've been gone, bren is much better.... but I've been in bed sick for 3 days... feeling better today, just really weak. hey armen, want a cheap E28 :D

let me know how the suspension is coming indi, and as for pics... um we'll see. I think everyone here knows my car by now as the "injured" black E28.

good to see you all having a good time, maybe if I'm feeling better tomorrow or saturday we can do an evening drive...

Indi, what does your schedule look like???

Mojo325is
07-10-2003, 02:19 PM
Hey Armen-

Is your driveway open Saturday for a car wash????

moonluv810
07-10-2003, 02:30 PM
Justin, I'm afraid so. It's a '96 w/ 70k miles, not in its best shape, so lots of work ahead. Previous owner beat the hell out of it, but I think I got a pretty good deal on it, so no bitching here. :)

Jer, I finally got the suspension done last night. Still need to take it in for an alignment. Really want to replace most of the bushings too, some already show some signs of cracking, but my wallet says no.

Nah... your E38 looks great. The more I look at your car, the more I love the old school bimmers. If Correy wasn't asking too much (not saying that he shouldn't), I'd be driving an E30 right now :) You just need to spend a couple of hours detailing it. :D And voilaaaa...

We're going to a Jazz concert in Omaha this saturday. But Friday and Sunday afternoon should be quite open. Why? Do you have a plan for the group? Let's hear it!

moonluv810
07-10-2003, 02:35 PM
Adam, let me know if you need any help doing your suspension. I think I've become pretty good at tearing up E36 suspension already. Let's say 1 hour for each corner without air tools :)

Unless this Armenian dealer guy lets us use his air tools. :D

Mojo325is
07-10-2003, 02:37 PM
Hehe, I'm doing my suspension in a month or so! Stay tuned!
(this means I'll need those springs from ya Armen.....PM to come...)

Mr Project
07-10-2003, 04:08 PM
Adam - Saturday afternoon... if it's early afternoon, the driveway should be open. After 3-4pm is getting ready for a family get-together. Also...I don't think I have any springs...you mean Indi?

Indi - if we can work out a time, you guys are more than welcome to use the garage/air tools/lift. (ok, I don't have a lift). Working out a time is generally the tough part with me, especially lately. Stay in touch.

Jer - glad you guys are both on the road to health...and whatever I buy (eventually) will have to be 150% rust-free... I'm developing a severe allergy to rust.

Indi - I know, I know, I'm ashamed to even work in my non-lift-having garage. :) And what with a lift costing more than any of my non-german cars are worth, it's not real likely I will ever have one.

Jer - that thought has occurred to me...a weekend at Aaron's, a diff, a steering box, and a radiator/fan would make your car pretty appealing to me...still may wait a year or so before I do anything, though.

Though I have to admit today I've been tempted by W124 300D Turbos....mmmm....34+ MPG in a 3600 pound highway cruiser.... :drool

Hey, last night I was driving home and I met up with some more kids with BMWs. I finally met the kid that I've seen driving around Lincoln with the yellow M3. He was driving around with the other kid with the 328is that I met the last time I was driving home. Anyway, they went out to West O to race and I followed with a few other cars that wanted to run. I couldn't see all that much of the car since I was behind another car, but I guess the M won by about 3 car lengths. It was pretty fun. Afterwards we stopped and met up for a minute and then I went back home. Damn, I should take O street home every night....

94E36-325is
07-13-2003, 11:36 PM
Wonder why that guy wouldn't race me then? If he can beat a 328 then surely he could beat me? I was totally side by side with no cars in front of us and he wouldn't race me? I don't get it. We need to meet you sometime too. I wanna closer look at your car. We all need to get together and lets plan a little in advance to make sure as many people can come as possible. Anyone have any ideas on what to do or when to do it??

I almost posted this in it's own thread...but the people who care will see it here.

The ESCRAP LIVES AGAIN!!!

As of last night, it was clean, running great, shifting great, and had nice cold A/C... and the headlights were on! It's ready for prime-time, baby, a little more clean-up and it's going in the paper. Anybody need a '95 Escort 4-door as a daily beater?
