Hi all,
I have had my 06' 325i for about 3 months. I love this car and it has been a big change coming from an E34. Yesterday after detailing my car I noticed that the front bumper is starting to chip on the clear coat. Anybody else experience this problem before? Will this still be covered under the four year, 50,000 mile warranty? Just wanted to get your guys input on what I should do. The chipping is not big, but I know in time it will get worse. Thanks.

Mine is the same as yours, 50K miles and no chips at all, I dont think they will cover chipping?

why would paint chipping be covered by warranty? I mean honestly? Clearly its cause by driving conditions and not cause by defective parts lol

OP, a picture is worth a 1000 words, so post a pic of what you are talking about. But given that this was bought as a used car, chances are the chipping is the result of abuse or neglect by the previous owner. Doubt warranty will cover that. Maybe if it was a CPO you may have a case to argue with the dealer, otherwise not much you could do other than take care of it yourself I am afraid. Good Luck.

CPO wont cover it for sure, CPO is for electronic/mechanical failed parts only.

Yeah but I was thinking maybe some good faith gesture on the dealer's part if this was purchased through them as a CPO, assuming of course this is not something caused after the car was bought. But honestly, without a picture I doubt anyone here knows exactly what the OP is talking about.

yea totally, but being a chip in the clearcoat 3 months after purchase, its probably a rock chip or something along those lines... Now if the paint were falling off the bumper, somebody would definately take care of it for the guy lol

Paint chips are pretty common. I see you live out here in California. The dry conditions and freeways will ruin cars paint quick.
