weird emission test problem

Hello everyone. I am looking to buy another e46 and found one, but there is a weird problem. I checked carfax and it shows that emission test failed , but carcheck says it failed and then passed.
Is there another way to check if the test has passed? For instance can I call the emission station or something else?

The owner tried o fic it and it took a few tries before it passed. happens all the time.

Any check engine lights on this car? If yes then it will not pass that way.

Doesn't sound so strange. Car failed test, owner had problem fixed, car passed test.

Yes , it is strange cause carfax says it failed and never passed later while carcheck says failed and passed. Which one is more reliable? No check engine light , but we all know 50 miles or 3 full cycles of warm up and cool off should happen before CEL goes off.

I know for a fact that it takes a few weeks for the emissions information to show up on carfax.


I did the emissions on my car and I checked 2 weeks later on carfax and it wasnt there. Then I checked again 2 mon ths later and it was on there.
