Just had installed prokit on a 01 540it and hate em. I knew I should of gotten the h&r race with the 1.7 drop in the front. I hate wheel well gap and the eibachs just don't put it down far enough. It's my fault but i should have researched better. I know most don't approve of this but can I cut a quarter or half round out and put it down a little more? It looks like the top of the spring is wound smaller than the middle so I'm not sure if it can be done. Thoughts on cutting anyone other than don't do it?http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc312/snosk8luke/touring1.jpg

I think he has a 540, I got a 528i. Actually my 528it springs will probably tuck his ride.

I think he has a 540, I got a 528i. Actually my 528it springs will probably tuck his ride. That's prolly true. I wonder if I get a set of 528 springs and plant them on the 540 then I should get a lower drop because of the lower spring rate. I'm assuming?Still does anyone know if the spring can be cut?Like I said b4, the top looks to be spun smaller than the middle.

It's not recommended but I don't see the harm. The fact that it's a aftermarket spring and the top part of the spring is usually a dead coil, I see no ill effect. JUST DO IT.
I might bit the bullet and cut my front H&R springs, if I can't sale them. If you want my H&R pm me I'll let them go super cheap.
Are your eibachs a even drop?

no you should not cut them and no you should not put 528 springs on a 540. The latter is an especially bad idea, as the car will handle like barge.

definitly don't cut them bro..you'll throw the spring rate way the hell off and you'll also end up with a bouncy ride and less confident handling..i say give them a few days to settle
or you can also miss match brands..that's what maxima drivers do..h&r's in front, eibach in the rear to get the perfect stance
worst come to worst pull them and sell them..and save for coilovers i guess
