I have 2 year old E60 that has some serious pitting on the windshield and headlight covers. I am about to repair the headlight covers by sanding and polishing as I have done on other vehicles with great success, as they are plastic. My question is this - can anything similar be done to the windshield to polish or improve the pitting on it? It looks as if it's been driven in a sandstorm for about a thousand miles. Thanks.

depends on how deep it is. if it is too deep, your going to have to replace the windshield

Not exactly ... insurance agencies in MA replace windshields once per year for free.

That's irrelevant, what he described was a clear case of insurance fraud. Purposely damaging a worn part and filing a claim is insurance fraud.

Any chance BMW would replace a pitted windshield if your car is still in warranty? Has anyone ever asked?

Highly doubt it.

i duno how deep the pitting is, but there are some automotive glass polishing products available (Griot's), seems like it could atleast minimize the effect? I don't have much experience with it though.
