540it wagon 119k mi

BMW stealer changed tranny fluid 10k mi ago.

Yesterday Engine failsafe then Tranny Failsafe
will not excellerate and turns off

Read every forum that could possible be connected to my problem
Ask questions got some different recommendations

Forum 1-- fuse .... could not find

Forum 2-- Battery
Bought Battery put on after leaving cable off 3 hours ... same problem

Forum 3--Reset with wire on #7 and #19 pins .. same problem .. shifting from park to Reverse made a huge jerk and pop ... smaller pop to Drive

Forum 4-- Tranny and get out the checkbook $$$$$$$

Drove in failsafe mode 1000 rpm at 25 mph. I moved the shifter over to manual and tried shifting ...nothing

After about 2 miles while moving along at 25 mph ....there was a jerk like
and the dash changed from auto mode with P R N D S to manual 1 2 3 4 5

Shifted up and down in manual mode...drove 60 last mile home. In driveway turned off and on NO PROBLEM

EXERCISM COMPLETE .... BMW DEMON ... HAS LEFT THE BODY

Does anybody know what happen

The only explanation I could find is it was the battery. But the Advance Auto did not have enough charge off the shelf and after 2 miles the alternator charged batt and reset code.

ANY FEED BACK HELPFUL

Clean the MAF.
Probably need replacing.

Check out EACtuning.com

Find out exacly what the car needs, but taking it to specialized BMW tech.
The stealer should own up to job they did with the tranny, and should make the tranny right, since they just got done working on it.

I will take your advice and take to BMW to put on computer.

I will check MAF also. It had to be the battery. Other forum guys had the same problem and battery solved problem. The only difference is I had to drive 2 miles in failsafe mode for the new battery to kick in or clear problem.

If it turns out to be mechical how much to have tranny shop rebuild 540 auto tranny. Is it cheaper to buy tranny out of junk yard or rebuild.

If the tranny is going into limp mode, then I think it's something with the computer/ electronics, IMO.
That is why it is important to have the codes read on the GT-1 (BMW computer) to find out what is wrong.

I would find a good reputable BMW tech specialist locally to have things checked out, or if the car is under warranty, take to the stealer.
Just as long as the stealer doesn't sucker you, and take all your money.

If the tranny is toast, then rebuild it.
Or, if you have money, do a manual swap.

If you have the OEM BMW battery, there should be a life indicator on it.
If the color is black, your battery is going bad/ is bad.
