I followed the lenora email address and finally was able to speak to a live person and submitted my case. the results were that BMWNA would only goodwill %50 of the part and i would have to pay the labor at the dealership

i mentioned that im part of a forum and a number of people got theirs covered 100% minus labor. She didnt have much of an answer aside from, that she will ask the dealership to see if they will cover anything (i doubt it though)

said the decision might be due to the fact my car is too old and too many miles

2001 bmw 540i/6 110,000 miles

any suggestions?... I feel left out :(

Hello kaptom540:

Mine was done about 5 months ago right after I bought it. 1998 with about 130K miles. They covered 75% of the part.

i think the difference in coverage is some people say that cant read their odometer which I vaguely remember reading somewhere the manufacture has to cover due to some law. Call them back and say you cant read ANYTHING.

I just had my instrument cluster and radio fixed thru my aftermarket warranty. $1700 for parts, labor and blower motor resistor. Makes me feel better about getting suckered into buying the warranty.

I had no problem getting BMWNA to pay 100% of the part and I paid about $100 for labor. This was in January 2006 for my 1998 540i w/ 78k miles.

i paid 5dollars for labor special discount rate from my svcadvisor who is a good friend... always lets me drive the 335i loaner... lol and 100%on the part... i also stated that they never got back to me after sending all the info... maybe they felt bad..

Start at the dealer first. They can goodwill parts themselves. Mine did 100% and I paid labor. They don't like stuff coming from NA customer service.

Good tip. I'll keep that in mind if the issue ever surfaces again or occurs in my 01 (knocks on wood, hoping that it won't happen).

Update, BMWNA asked my local dealer directly to see if they will goodwill the parts themselves like JNyost mentioned

100% covered.

btw... how does that work?.. when the dealer goodwills the part?... why would any dealer do that?

I also received 50% from BMW NA even though I pleaded my case. Their claim due to the economic crisis that we're having. The timing must be off to offer just 50%. I will just have mine fix from VDO Repair -> http://www.vdorepair.com/ .
