Hey all, about 9 months ago I had a UUC lightweight flywheel and performance organic clutch put in the 540. Sense then the clutch engagement has been very bad, the best way to describe it would be similar to warped brake rotors with the pulsing sensation. It is only noticeable in first gear and it's like there is no margin for slipping, just full on or nothing, and it is very very noticeable. Is this normal? It doesn't seem right, but from what I've been able to search on, it sounds like this may be the case when you go to the lightweight flywheel and a very grippy clutch. Any thoughts, comments would be greatly appriciated.

Oh, and other than that engagement issue, this is by far the best mod you could possibly do, it has completely transformed the car and the way she respondes and accelerates.

Thanks,

N.

i think that's what you get with such a set up. i had the same prob with my other car. another thing could be motor/tranny mounts worn or torn. just a suggestion from a newb :)

It could be your CDV valve, remove and you will love it.

also... possible bad throw-out bearing.

Thanks guys, I removed the CDV a long time ago and the throw-out bearing was replaced when the flywheel / clutch went in.

I appreciate the input though... and I think your right on that this is what you get... but again, I still say it's the best mod you can do so long as you don't mind, the car spins up and accelerates like you wouldn't believe.

just curious. does that valve really makes a big difference when removed?

Oh yes, if you haven't removed it yet I would highly recommend it. It gives you back control of the clutch and helps make the car more drivable.

+10 on CDV delete - biggest bang for the buck out there. It's even ahead of a short shifter.

Did you get the UUC 240mm or the 280mm flywheel (V12)? I'm guessing the 240mm since you have the performance organic clutch.

Yup, the 240mm - it's was so nice, all cool anodized blue, very well manufactured... I almost didn't want to put it in as know body will ever see it!!

Well I just got the car. I dont know if it has been removed. I bleeded/flushed my brake fluid last night and I also bleeded the clutch. I can see the valve in there, but to my understanding the replacement valve looks the same, but it is just empty from the inside...so how can i tell if my valve is still there fully functioning or previous owner had removed it?

I just removed mine, you really don't need to buy the replacement valve just bend the line a bit and it will bolt right in place.

I think that is pretty much what you get with that setup.

Never heard of "Chatter"? Classic when the clutch material is too stiff and too unforgiving. That is what you get when you go stronger, but don't pay the price. I believe removing the CDV (in this case) may very well make it worse. This is one reason people stay with stock. You will not eliminate this until you eliminate your set-up. Sorry
