9.5" up front will fit if effective offset is 21mm... those who are running the OEM E39 M5 18x9.5 rears (which has a 24mm) on the front use a 3mm spacer to get the final offset to 21mm. I believe they're running 255/35 or 265/35-18 tires up front.
11" rears would probably need some level of fender lip rolling and maybe even more modification, assuming an offset in the 20mm area. Don't get the offset too high, otherwise you have inside clearance prob's.

im running ET 13 with my 20x9.5 rears...the most aggressive you would be able to is around ET 17...

I think Jo may have already been considering the 11" width when he replied...

I've had these rims for at least 5 years now... and Maya wasn't making rims for e39's at the time... so i don't remember the exacts...
I'm running 9.5 in the front with a spacer... but i think the correct offset is in the low +20's...
And i have 10.5 in the rear... offset is +15 or so... 275/30/19 stretched... if i don't have a stretched tire, it will rub pretty bad... fenders rolled.... i think 11" will put it over the edge...

yeah so the fronts im going to run a 24mm spacer to get a final et20. i have 18x9 et25 now and theres room enough to handle the extra 1/2" or so. how stretched is your 275? i was thinking a 285 will fit but it will be stretched. im trying to figure out these wheels without actually having them in my hands. whats the highest et in back that i could get away with before suspension interference? im rolling the fenders before hand and im respraying the car afterwards so if i have to pull them out i will.

probably should get the wheels before you roll, so you know how much to pull
im pretty sure with a 11" and 285 ... your gonna need to pull those fenders
10" with 285's can rub ... and thats a normal setup
if your going for the stretched veedub look, id say stick with 275's stretched and have the body shop make the fenders work

i know my m5 fit 275 up front without any issues w/ the 3mm spacers. so you can fit a 9.5 up front without issues.i have a 10 on the back right now and from what i can tell i know i can fit a 10.5 without any issues. but 11 would be really pushing it, especially with the right size tire.
btw you can run a ET of 20 in the back with 10, so that should give you an idea of how much space you have. i was pretty damn close to the fender and i have a slight stretch going with my current tires too.
and brandon, you have 17's thats why you are getting away with an et5 hehe

u should have no problems with the fronts.... as far as the rears, u gotta find out what tire you're running also.. some tire brands run thinner than others, different sidewall, rounded on the edges, flatter on some parts...
I had to stock up on a discontinued tire (Falken FK451), because its the only 275/30/19 that fits without it rubbing... The model that replaced it (Falken FK452) at the same size, has a solid, straight up, perpendicular sidewall when mounted... no stretchy...
yeah like someone else said, you gotta have the rim and tires mounted, so you know what u have to work with... before you start pulling fenders...
i have a friend who's company makes rims, and he seems to know the offset for every car, for any rim size, off the top of his head... i'll see if i can get a hold of him, and see what he says...

why are you guys having to stretch anything on a 275? i had michelin PS2 on my m5 with 275 and there was no issue. :dunno

yeah, i shouldn't have to stretch, but the offset isn't right on my car... its too aggressive... i should have a higher offset, to bring it in a little... they didn't have specs for e39 back then when i ordered them... they gave me e46 M3 offset in the rear...
Answer to the 11" inch offset, my friend says you'd have to run 25-30et offset... said it should fit, no need for stretching of tires, no pulling fenders, maybe rolling them... not a 100% sure, but he sounded pretty confident... if you want it more aggressive, little deeper lip, go a little lower offset, but you'll have to stretch the tire with a 275.... 285 will only stretch a little...

Yeah, it's gonna be tight with 11" rear on any size tire... I'd err on the side of using a lower offset (low 20mm's), as you're already going to roll fenders and maybe even pull them if needed. High 20mm's I'm not sure... you definitely don't want to end up with clearance issues with the suspension or inner liner

javaco,
actually E46 M3 rear offset is almost the same as our E39 offset, low-mid 20mm's in the common aftermarket wheel 10" rear setup
Your ride looks very sharp, nice
