After reading stuff in here I was convinced to detail my car for the first time on the weekend:
-Wash
-Mothers Claybar / QD
-Mothers Polish
-Mothers Sealer & Glaze
It was pretty much the last 'open' weekend for me before winter. Being short on time, all I had locally was Mothers. But I see most people in here raving about how great Klasse SG is... and how long it lasts.
Being in Canada, the intent is to protect my paint for the winter. I am only looking for protection and durability.
-Do you think the protection I will get from Mothers Sealer is enough for winter?
-How long will it last? 1mo? 4mo? 6mo? 1yr?
-Should I apply something else in addition to the sealant? Like a Klasse SG on top? (i have not waxed on top of the sealer)
-How have other people found the Mothers Sealant? Do you need to add a layer of wax on top for protection?
-I used the entire claybar, is that normal?
Any other tips or info would be appreciated. Thanks.

1- Depends on what kind of winter you're talking about. Is the car covered? Garaged? Or does it sit out in the elements all the time? If it sits out in the elements, and it snows a lot, I'd say to reapply it when you can.
2- I'm no expert, but over the winter, I'd say to reapply it after there's been a heavy snow or rain. One- it should help the appearance of the car, make it shiny again... Two- it'll reimburse any protection that was lost or spent... Three- just do it, just to be safe.
3- A couple layers of wax wouldn't hurt to go on top of a sealant.
4- I've never used Mother's Sealant, but I always throw wax on top of a sealant just for extra protection.
5- I believe the whole claybar is meant to be used, so yes, I think it is normal.
Tips-
-Go check out Autogeek.net for some great deals. They've got Menzerna and Klasse products there, so go get some, and detail it again in the cold weather. Yes. Do it. Be extreme. Cold-weather-detailing FTMFW!:buttrock
(But really, get a Porter Cable and some polish and have at it.)

imo, collinite is what you need for winter protection to last you through. stuff is bullet proof for about 6 months.

My car is outdoors. Im in my 20's; I rent - so no garage. But I did manage to pay for the car myself, lol.
I drive it daily on the highway to work. The winter involves snow/rain/salt.
I see autogeek has lots of tips for Klasse. Ive searched around and nobody really talks about mothers sealant. So I dont know what the expected longevity is. And Its kinda hard to apply at sub zero temps (unless I take it to my gf's father's workshop).
And while I could afford a PC or lots of cool stuff for my car, at the moment its not where my priority is. So for now its just protection! until i get to that stage of spending money on my wheels.
Pics? I was working late. Darkness was pretty much upon me when I finished. That was yesterday. And today is raining.

Klasse and other products are great but the prep is key to a great shine.
Since all your trying to do is winter protection and keep the paint nice until later, Mother's will do. I suggest Mother's FX Synwax topped with Mother's Reflection Top Coat. You can get some good protection from the two.
