So i walk to my car and find this nasty scratch. I'm 99% sure its from a indy garage i left it at for about 24hrs total. Their lot is super cramped, i should've known something like this would happen. I dropped it off wed morning, picked it up thurs morning, and its been sitting in my apt parking lot ever since. I should've noticed it when i picked the car up...
Ugh im like furious and depressed. How should i handle my confrontation with the indy shop. I want to get this fixed, and i shouldn't have to pay for it. How much would it cost to fix a scratch like this? Im in the SF Cali area, any know of a good shop to fix this scratch up?

thats a relatively smal scratch/gouge I wouldn't worry about price, I know over here in MI it would cost about $50

You won't get crap, unless you noticed it while you where still on premesis after pick up you can't prove they did it.

Bingo. I talked with them, not expecting them to admit to it... and they didnt. I really need to be more careful of these things. I was picking the car up early morning so i could get going... o well . I did get a card of a nearby body shop, so i'll be getting an estimate soon.

best thing to do is to go to a local dealership and ask them who they use to touch up their used cars. This is done a lot with higher end dealerships... they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Yea, i'll call up local bmw dealerships to see who they recommend.
If anyone is curious, i did get one quote.
::drum roll::
$$$ 650 !!!!!
This involves removing the bumper and respraying it all... alot of labor. Not sure if that scratch is worth $650. Im gonna have to ask around to other places.

yea I forgot to add that this is why I suggested a shop a dealership suggests because they are able to do spot repairs which at times you cant even tell was damaged. Thus saving you some money in the process

im curious, wouldn't a new painted bumper be cheaper??? The cost is pretty much independent of the size of the scratch. I might as well wait for more crap to accumulate then take care of it.

Uhh...
touch-up paint.
On a grey car, no one will ever notice.

Quit bitching, my car got broken into this past Sunday. My MINT CONDITION interior is now not so mint, but am I on here making whining threads? No. Shit happens man, there are a lot of pieces of crap in this world that love to make someones prized possession their's to take stuff out of so dey can pay dat rent. It sucks man.
Sorry for my rant and I am sorry about your car, but there will always be shady people to mess up items that they will never be able to own. Jealous people suck.

It's deep though.. I mean.. the whole bumper/strip SHOULD be resprayed... in order to make sure there is a seamless/smooth blend. Either way... I agree with pthm except I'll up it a bit. I say $100-$150 tops!
Sorry to see that happened! Some people just don't care. :(
This could work out in your favor though.... why not have the bumper strip blended into the bumper when the work is done. Won't be much more $$.
Good Luck! :cool

$650... ouch?!?
It shouldn't cost that much to touch up. They don't HAVE to respray the entire bumper, there are touch up techniques that match the paint and get an almost perfect match for much much cheaper - even for brighter colours with pearl fleck paint and such.
