polishing pad conditioner

Is it safe to use clay lube as polishing pad conditioner? Can I use mist of water too? I heard water will strengthen the polish. any advise will appreciated.

I use quick detailer, ONR diluted down to make a qd, sometimes water for more cut.

I assume I can use water for polish/compound but can not use when waxing with pads cos wax and water don't mix well. I will hand wax then.

depends on the product your using. Optimum and menzerna dont really need it. They work better actually without water because there is enough lube through the polish itself.
