My wifes 07 "S" has been at the dealer for almost a month! they have replaced a number of parts (6) on left front suspension. Last item was the axle shaft. They now say noise is gone. Anyone else experienced a similar issue?

Actually I just got an email from the service manager. They replaced the axle on Friday and then drove it one more time today. The noise is still there.:( I give them credit for sticking to it but I'm wondering when enough is enough? Wed. will mark the 30th day they have had the car!!!!!!!!!!

Inexcusable. Tell me you've been in a dealer-provided loaner at least.
Not sure you'll find many answers here... have you tried northamericanmotoring.com? Lots more Cooper folks over there.
Anyway, I've had an '02, '04 and now an '08 Cooper (all S), the '02/'04 had 6MT, the '08 has the auto. None have exhibited this behavior. Good luck.

The dealer has been very good. We're about 50 miles from the dealer and they brought us a loaner when they picked up the Mini. I got a call from the service manager yesterday and they still have been unable to fix the problem. There is some discussion of a replacement car. I'd rather have the original car but at this point a replacement may be the best option.

pfft no brainer in my book if they are willing to replace the car. Think about how long you haven't had it, the dealer replaced numerous parts already ? and it's still not fixed?? sounds like it was a "built on a hangover Monday" car. Who knows whats next if they do figure this one out.

We're waiting for exact details of the buy back. They would order a car optioned like our 07 except it will be a 09. We definately do not want the 07 back at this point. I'll follow up when I know more.

Sorry to hear. Our 08 Mini has been nothing but perfect. A joy to drive for sure.

I'm thinking of selling our 6MT cooper s conv for a 2009 model, and I am debating about the transmission...How did you find your transition from manual to auto? The idea of the auto sounds appealing, but so does a manual one with a limited slip.
