Any interest on a group buy for rotors? I've be speaking with a supplier in the Sacramento area (HALO Parts) who will give a good price if there is enough interest. The estimates I got would be around $55 for BMW OEM or Zimmerman OEM style and $65 for Zimmerman x-drilled (plus shipping). This is an estimate based on around 10 people.

The orginal prices and info was for OEM style or crossdrilled. I contacted the supplier today to inquiry about slotted and he is looking into it.

I'm interested in a pair of rears for my '97 328is. Also, if you are looking into break pads, I could use a pair of rear Axxis Ultimates.

Update:

Got a list of rotor types and price the supplier can give:

E36 M3
Zimmerman x-drilled $65 each front or rear
OE rotors $50 each (front or rear)
Zimmerman fronts (an OEM rotor) $48

E36 3 series, non-M
Zimmerman, Balo, ATE, or Texstar rotors (all were OE manufacturers) $40 f, $30 rear.
Zimmerman x-drilled $64 f, $50 rear.
Powerdisc (star shaped groove) $60 f, no rear app.

The only slotted rotors available are from the Powerdisc for non-M

Also a word from the supplier:

"I have no "slotted" rotors available asside from the Powerdisc for non-M E36's. All slotted rotors that I have found are cut AFTER manufacturing, and hence, result in a weaker rotor which is subject to more cracking potential. The Zimmerman cast drilled rotors have the holes cast into them while manufactured, unlike others, to remain nameled, that are drilled after (out of blanks). That is why the only drilled rotor I carry is Zimmerman. "Cast
drilled" results in a much stronger rotor than those done afterwards...."

Let me know who is interested and in what type of rotor (including M or non-M and front and/or rears). After I get a feel for the interest level, I'll talk to the supplier to get specifics on the # of orders needed to get these prices. I believe it is around 10 orders, though I'll have to clarify with him if it can be a mixed order (i.e. OEM vs x-drilled or M vs non-M)

Info on pricing:

I checked around for other prices on Zimmerman x-drilled & OEM style. The Zimmerman x-drilled retail for $138 each. I have seen them at bimmerworld for $79 and another GB on this site has them for $67.50. This supplier is offering them for $65. (Note: these are per rotor prices, not per pair.. just so everyone is clear) These prices are the best I've seen anywhere. Same holds true for the OEM style as well. The supplier (HALO parts) is offering these prices though 7-31.

As far as shipping goes, he will charge actual shipping based on your location rather than a flat rate. This means the the shipping rates are not inflated with "handling" fees. CA residents must pay sales tax as well.

I will be meeting with the supplier next week. I'll talk to him about the interest level so far and get detail on how to arrange the actual purchase.

Update:

Right now there does not appear to be a lot of interest. I sent PM to all who posted to this thread to confirm their interest and order details and only received two replies. :95

I can't confirm what the prices will be like without the group interest, though you are free to contact him directly at haloparts@comcast.net.

Maybe the GB can still happen if some additional interest is sparked in the next week or so (i.e. 10 or more interest parties)

I been pretty busy lately and haven't been able to respond a quickly as I would have liked.

It doens't seem like the interest level is out there to form a group buy. However, the supplier did give me a link to his temporary website:

http://home.comcast.net/~tgergen78/index.html

Check out the deals there and email him directly with any questions you have about products.
