I'm getting some wheels soon, they have a 20mm offset and are 17x8", so i should look into 235/45/17 correct? could i fit any bigger without problems?

why not go staggered , you Do have a rear wheel drive car , what type od weather will you be driving ? i clear 18x10 275/30/18 with rolled fenders in the rear , for my summer tires ,, i live the Michelin ps2 or p zero rosos ,, i think i spelled that correct,, best for 70+ temp

235/45/17 is OEM m5 fitment.

I run 255's all around no problem.

Stock fenders et13.

I think 255's would rub on et20. You could probably fit a 245 in there.
