key in ignition message

Ok this on has been bugging me for a while. the dash message reads key in ignition even when the key is out. no message unless door is opened and no message when running. Its just kind of bothersome when i open the door and it reads key in ignition when the key is in fact in my hand...any ideas?

Did you change your key ignition? I have the same problem with my 740 and it happened just after changing the thing. Theory is cylinder switch under steering column is in the wrong position. My airbag light came on too. That is even more annoying seeing red blob all the time.

there has to be a microswitch or something in the keycylinder. me, I'd live with it.

no it's not. Looks tiny on my comp, and it's way under the leagl size... lol. you're going to have to take a pic. You like it though?
