Hello all
Currently looking at a 1992 525i for around 3000obo
Currently it has 200,000 miles on the engine, no oil leaks or anything leaking that shouldn't be. Does have a problem with 3rd gear, but all other gears engage smoothly. Putting the stick into 3rd gear makes a scraping sound. 3rd gear syncro? Thats the only major problem to be noted that I'm saw.

Leather seat driver side is torn\rear passenger window doesn't go down ( possibily switch or motor? )

Engine picks up and goes strong to me coming from a 1.8l 4 cylinder

Does anyone know if there a quide to replacing a syncro in the transmission around?

also whats common going price for these cars?

Thanks Justin

dead synchro = dead trans. Rebuilds are very expensive (around the price of that car). Used trannys are available and reasonably cheap $200 - $500.

Use this fact to chop that price down to $1500

I appericate the info, and the costs of a used tranny does confirm with my findings.
