I would go with the 240/40R17 on all four corners. You may need to roll the fender lips and run a little more negative camber.
If I can help let me know.
Thank you

What are you doing with the car? Just driving it? STU? HPDE's?

The 245/40's or the 255/40's will work. The 255's might require a little more work, but should fit no problems. It is a really popular setup on the STU M3's.

90% street use but have 2 - 4 track days a year.
I love nice summer tires on the street tho :) 255 would be awesome.
Any idea what "work" besides rolling is needed? I read Sanding of the rear bumper?

Just put Yoko S-Drive 255/40 on the back of mine a couple days ago, prev owner had rolled the fender Baseball bat style..once in awhile I hear a rub over a bump so I will be rolling them further. Very pleased with the look and traction so far though not pushed hard yet. I run about -2.6 Front, - 1.5 Rear camber....

I have 255/40 Yoko AD07's on 17x8.5 K1's, which are supposedly as wide a 255 tires as you can find. I needed spacers in the front with a bunch of neg. camber and I rolled the rear fenders and added about -1.5 degrees of camber. No rubbing now and can turn lock to lock up front without issues. It is def close, but does not rub.
