seem to be good tire... wonder how it compares to Dunlop Direzza Z1 Starspec or others
discuss
Saw that they now carry the 245/40/17 for $160. However, the Dunlops are proven to be a great tire (255/40/17) for the same price.

Unfortunately there is not much to discuss yet; there has been no testing as of now, by Tire Rack or by competitors.
The Star Spec has been proven to be an amazing tire at an amazing price, so I think I will get them baring any news in the interim. I am waiting to hear though.

well this will be a good post for any feedback we get on the tire... Kumho makes a good tire, let's see if it's even comparable to the Dunlop.

We have not tested nor will we this year. It will be tested next spring. We did test the MX against the RE01R and the Direzza so you can take a look at that one. The XS is going to be better than the MX all the way around. I doubt it will be quite as good as the other two tires but they have to be close.
If I can help just let me know.

Any updates on the Kumho XS vs the Dunlop Direzza stars?

We are still waiting for better weather. I believe it is scheduled to be our first test. The Bridgestone RE-11 will also be in the test.

Since they are a known good tire I just ordered 4 Dunlop Direzza Stars 215/40/17 for the style 5s that will be going on my E36M3 once refinished. I don't think I'll be disappointed.
Will they mail me the paper work for the rebate?
Jim,
Are these safe to put on the E36 M3? I think they will be near their load capacity.

You should have put my name as a contact on the order. Someone from Tire Rack will call to verify the fitment before they can ship out. The coupon will come in the mail for the rebate.

OK. I'll be ordering tires for my other wheels soon and I'll put your name. You can't tell me if they will be safe though?

They would fit fine on the car if it is the E30 M3.

Jim, I canceled my order because the tire rack rep said they could not support the load of the E36 M3.
Can you help me find a solution? I'm trying to figure out if 235/40/17 will fit with the style 5s (ET20) on the E36M3 or I might have to go to a different tire.

I thought you had the E30 M3 not the E36. The 215/40R17 would be too small for the
E36. I would say you could go to the 215/45R17 and they are a taller tire with more load capacity. The 235/40R17 is going to stick out with the 20mm offset.

I'm thinking the 215/45R17 too but am still trying to figure out on other threads if they will fit properly.

It is still a little low on load capacity but I don't think the 225/45R17 if going to fit in the wheel well.

Go with 215/45/17. I don't know of anyone who would want to recommend you a 215/40/17. That's way too small.

215 40 17 load capacity for Azenis rt615 or hankook rs2 is higher. 1200 instead of 1078 lbs
BTW, Nitto NT05 is cheaper than the Kumho XS and Dunlop Stars.

Nitto NT05 don't come narrower than 235.
Hankook RS2 also don't come in 215/40/17.

I was mentioning NT05 in comparison to price being cheaper than the XS and the Dunlop Stars.
The RS2 comes in 215/40/17 as per tire rack.

You are correct. My bad.
Which do you think is a better tire between the rs2 and rt615?
