I have recently had installed on my Audi some brake pads called "Akebono" which I had not heard of before.
This company does not make pads that will fit my '88 635 and the BMW pads (when last I used them) stopped well but created considerable dust. Has anyone out there a suggestion on pads that work well, last a long time, and do not put dust all over the wheels?
Thanks.

Im not sure if the ones I use qualify as low-dust as it were, but, I do not seem to have exessive dust residue on my wheels. I just went to Foreign Car Parts and ordered OEM for mine. The were metallic, and squeaka tad once in a while, other than that Im happy with them.

I'm a big fan of PBR Deluxe pads. Very little brake dust (unlike whatever the heck it is Audi is mounting on their new cars) and outstanding for aggressive road use. Not recommended for the track though.

I've bought 2 sets of Porterfiel R4S and have yet to use either of them. Everything I've heard about them says they are the best in the industry. No noise, no dust and very high friction, cold or hot. They're not metallic (carbon kevlar), so the rotors last a long time too. And their customer service is top notch.

Cost? I suppose I could just check the site as well. :rolleyes

You can't see the prices online, but I have a catalog. I paid $180 for the full set for my 740.
