Hello All,
I am new to the forum and this is my first post. I have a 1985 BMW 635 CSI and this passed weekend I finally brought her out of storage. When I tried to apply the brakes the car wouldn’t brake. So I removed the brake master cylinder and to my suspicion the piston was not resetting.
I made the mistake of pumping the brake while the brake master cylinder was disconnected and a connecting shaft along with a ton of power steering fluid shot out. When I re-coupled the master cylinder with the power steering housing that is connected to the fire wall, I was not sure of the orientation of the connecting shaft as it is tapered at one end and has a 90 degree angle on the other end. As a result, I have a large leak where the brake master cylinder connects to the power steering housing next to the firewall.
Does anyone have any suggestions at to why I am getting a leak? Is there a seal that might have shot out when I applied the brake pedal? Thank you.,
Sal
