First off, my car is e28 535 turbo, shooting for 400-500hp, this is a summer car, 1-4 track days a year and I drive aggressive sometimes on the street.
I found some 17x8.5 ET15 23lbs and 17x10 ET 18 24.5lbs. I think with some mild flares these bad boys will fit. Now for tires, I read a people reviews here and and heard people really like dunlop direzza star and some people like the kumho ecsta mx.
Should I keep all 4 tires exactly the same brand/type or is it safe to run 2 rears of one type and 2 front of another. My reason for asking is I am looking at 275 40 17 (25.7d) or 285 40 17 (26d) tires for the rear and 255 40 17 (25) or 245 40 17 (24.7) for the front. I know the diameters are a bit larger than stock but maybe the fender flares let them clear. These sizes are the Kumho ECSTA MX. I heard very good things about the Dunlop Direzza Z1 Sport Star spec so I was thinking of using those for the fronts and using the Kumhos for the rear b/c they don’t make the star spec in the larger widths. My reason for the larger tires is I’ll be turboed and want as much grip as possible. I know the staggered width causes under steer and that the larger tires weigh more but I have bigger brakes and more hp to turn them/slow them down. Anyone have recommendations on front/rear tire combos, width or brand. Any insight is very much appreciated. Thx guys
