i have a 1995 bmw m3.... unfortunately, i over-reved the moter some time back, and floated all the valves....

instead of repairing the motor at the current time, i am going to drop in a (m50) 325i motor into the car... and possibly turbo it pretty soon...

my questions are...

1) Will the 325 motor run and/or work with the m3 computer/wiring harness?

2) is there anything that i will need to change to the m50, or will it fit and mount in the car perfect?

3) if i need to get a 325 computer, will my m3 harness work?

thanks in advance...
joshua

*** the 325 motor is from a 94, with 87K miles

why don't you just but a m50 head on it and keep the 3.0 bottom end?

mainly because of cost...

i got the 325 motor for $300...

inorder to fix the s50... i will have to buy new pistons, rings, bearings, head ($700) and a complete gasket set..... when i added it all up... i was looking at appx $3000 just to fix the s50...

why would you have do anything to the bottom end? I did it to my 95 twice and all it did was bend the valves. the bottom end was fine both times

I believe the m50 will bolt right up no problem since essentially it is the same motor just a bit smaller.

it will i have done it. and if you get a m52 head you can take you s50 cams and use them in the m52 head!

i have a few pistons that have major damage.... chiped/dented around the outer top edge... and they very well could have stress fractures....

i havn't found a set of pistons for less than appx $1000

The 2.5 will fit just fine and you can reuse the wiring and ECU but you will need a chip out of a 325i. If I were you I would fix the S50. M50 will devalue your car even if it is turboed.

i will probably put the s50 back in it later, but right now, i'm looking for a budget fix.... and later, when i have funds freed up, i will rebuild the s50
