OK..

So this is the deal...

I drove earlier today with the sunroof open and all was great in California..

THEN...

When I went to close it, I noticed that it was making a horrible noise. I then, for some reason, put my driver side visor down and noticed that every time I pushed the button on the sunroof, SOMETHING was pushing on the light making it rip through the ceiling and the sunroof itself wasn't working right. WTF??? Then it started to get stuck, the buttons stopped working, and the sunroof is all crooked n shit and didn't close properly. Oh and the other bad part is that now I can't even roll down my side windows. I HATE USING AC!

well.... WTF do you think it could be??? I will try and take pics in the morning to post, but if anyone had this problem or has an idea, please let me know.

TIA!!

A

P.S... If this helps any... 2 days ago when I drove her last, I noticed that the sunroof going back and forth was ok, but the function to "vent" it wouldn't do anything. It was like the motor was stuck or something on that function. AND TODAY was the day that it all went to hell.

Thanks again!

You end your statements with question marks.

I would look at the sunroof motor and see if it has backed out. Seems that the screw are loose and has fallen down some.

I look to delete crap that breaks if I don't care for them anyhow. The sunroof is one of them, but mine still works.

The sunroof isn't very fun to work with. Not sure what your problem might be. Do you have a Bentley?

This man speaks the truth. I bought a whole new sunroof assmebly on here rather than try to replace a single piece in that sunroof.

UPDATE:

Ok.. so here are some pics, sorry about quality.

And also... would this also have something to do with the fact that now NONE of my windows go down?

The metal rods that have the gears for the sunroof got stuck and pushed the rod out. Try lubing the gears and hope it goes away.

You can see it better by opening the sunroof and looking into it from the outside

Any other suggestions? Do you think I could get to the part by removing the light?

It might show you something. Removing the headliner would help

Another update...

I was looking into the Bentley and say that what is causing the light to come out is the cable housing.

Pg. 540-1 image #5 in the diagram.

What could cause this? And I see that I am able to remove the panel where the motor is and close the thing manually with the hex key. If I do that, would it make the damage worse?

The only thing in the area of the light that would cause it to move would be the sunroof worm gear sheathing. It must have worked its way loose and is now pushing up on your light as you go to use the sun roof.

the windows not working might be due to the comfort relay being overloaded? and you might need new fuse for the windows or need to fix the comfort relay...just guessing

Try it manually. If it sounds like its breaking, stop

yea, did it manually and was able to get it to sit better, but its friggin hard.

i stopped once the crack sound started. Looks like a job for.......... the extended warranty.

We should work on our sunroofs together, since you're local lol. Mine has been doing the same thing lately, minus the light part. Sunroof sits all crooked, guess one of the sliders broke.

Did you take out your headliner yet?
