I recently purchased a '84 633csi (US model) and the A/c Blower seems to have a loose bearing on the left (driver) side, and has begun to sag. After taking apart the cover, before the fire wall, turning on the car, and using the various speeds, it seems that the sagging is causing the Blower to dig in to the casing. Should i just replace the Blower fans? Or will I need to take a new blower, with motor and install that?
If someone would send me their e-mail, to post pics, that would be excellent. I will get home today at 5pm EST, and take pics to put up to show the 'damamge' to the casing.
thanks in advance,

You sure you're not referring to the heater blower motor and not to the a/c blower .
From your description of the location I'd say the heater blower.
Here's a pic of it from my car:
I've seen listings for a new blower motor but without the squirrel cages from after market parts dealers that are very reasonably priced but have never sat down whole assembly in hand and had to figure out how to get the cages off the old motor and onto the axles of the new one. But there must be a way or why would they sell the cageless motor.
Anyway, go ahead and email me your pics at baddog@videotron.ca and I'll post them up for you .

I have the same problem. It seems like the end of the squirrel cage lightly touches the bottom of the housing.

taylor, sorry I got lazy last night, the urge to drive out to the county outweighed my desire to get pics, and for some reason i didn't think iphone camera photo's would do it justice this morning when I got up. I'll try to take it apart tonight and get them to you.
Thanks,
oldy

alright, so the first few are obviously about the blower, but the next set, are just a photo of the engine, then specifically the duct tape places, and finally the rear seat 'head rests' seem to be pealing up, any suggestions on peeling them back and re-gluing them? or just try and glue down what's come up?
edit: also the front bumper? any sugestions, and lastly these were taken with a phone ;p

There should be absolutely no play between the bearings & the shaft. You can also use a blower motor from the e28 5 series. But beware, they use 2 different types. I finally found a decent fan & will occasionally lube the bearings very lightly, just a drop or 2.

Yeah, I can see the separation between the bering and the fan blade. What if the actual motor is sitting funny when it straps down? Does that look to be the case? as if the actual shield underneath is misshapen?
Im looking on websites and this motor is 200$ seems a bit unreasonable, does anyone have a parted car they could give up a used one?

In the picture, the cage is digging into the bottom of the housing. Take off the top of the housing on the other side and see if it is digging into the top of the housing on that side. That may indicate if the motor is mounted cock-eyed.
