A few days ago I posted a thread about a severe clunking sound and rattle I was experiencing after a suspension change (I had him swap shocks to Bilstein HD's and swapped out my non-sport springs to OEM sport)
Well after two trips back to him, and him telling me everything looks good, the problem persisted. I went and got another opinion. The second Indy told me "before we do anything, you need to change your front driver tire (its destroyed).
And it was. It was severely worn on the inside and all cracked and dry rotted on the outside.
Sure enough I took off my 18" M-Pars and put on my old 16" wheels and tires until I get a new tire. I drove around for a while right afterwards and no change.
I parked it overnight and now the sound is totally gone. No clunks or rattles. I even had my buddy shake the car aggressively (which used to create the clunk sound), but now with the 16" rims on it is as silent as can be. I even had the hood popped and had my hand and ear placed on the strut tower.
Can a bad tire cause all this, or could it be the bigger wheels as well?
